Steps Followed in the Pharmaceutical Plants to Manufacture Medicines

A series of steps are followed by the pharmaceutical manufacturing plants to manufacture important medicines. All these steps are equally important and the entire production procedure is said to be complete when all the production steps are completed properly. The production steps include the design conception, manufacture, withdrawal, dispensation, alteration, packaging, liberation and storage. All the pharmaceutical manufacturing industries have to undergo all these steps to develop useful medicines and various other pharmaceutical products. This article is all about the important steps that are followed by all pharmaceutical plants for the manufacture of essential medicines.
All the procedures of the pharmaceutical manufacturing can be divided into two units. These two units are primary processing stage and secondary processing stage. The primary processing stage mainly involves the development of active drug ingredients. Various research facilities conducted by pharmaceutical experts to provide efficient pharmaceutical ingredients also come under this stage.
Secondary processing stage is the second unit of the production procedure that mainly includes the conversion of active pharmaceutical ingredients into important medicines. So, we can say that this unit is the final drug processing unit that is very important to develop all the products that can be used as the pharmaceutical products in different healthcare organizations for the administration of the patients suffering from several health disorders.
The pharmaceutical products that are produced finally are available in different forms such as solid, semi-solid and liquid. The common solid forms include tablets, capsules, ointments, creams etc. Liquid pharmaceutical products are mainly in forms such as gels, solutions, emulsions, suspensions, and injectables. Several inhalable products and aerosols are also present that mainly contain chlorofluorocarbons and butane and are mainly for external use only. Hence, we can say that pharmaceutical manufacturing plants have contributed a lot towards the medical world and has save the mankind from disastrous diseases.

Herbal Medicine - The Secret to Cure Diseases

In earlier days, we were very much connected with nature. Everything was pure and safe for us. Initially even for diseases we do not seek doctors but the different herbs, spices, and other home products. But as the technology is advancing we are moving away from it. We now need readymade products so that no effort is required for its use. This has made us move towards the allopathic medication in every little sniffle. This has various side effects which are seen afterwards.
On the contrary, herbs as medicines are very effective and safe. Traditional medicines just suppress the symptoms while herbal medicines find the root cause of problems and thus eliminating it. Herbal medicines are prepared from the different parts of the plant and plant extracts. These were very popular in china and now have reached to the whole world due to its effectiveness. These herbal medicines are prepared by mixing various plant parts like roots, stems, leaves, bark, flower juices, etc.
In traditional Chinese medicine system, each herbal medicine is prepared by mixing different types of herbs considering the patient's illness. Some herbs are used to detoxify the effect of other herb while some are added to act as catalyst for the other herb. All this is decided in keeping the patient's physical, mental, and emotional and health aspects.
Herbal medicine in china is decided on the following concepts:
Body temperature: every individual has balanced yin/yang degree. The ratio of these two makes the person's body as hot, cold, warm, cool or neutral. While preparing herbs internal balance is checked then medication is done. For internal cold, hot yang medicines are given.
Taste: herbs have five different tastes i.e. sweet, sour, salty, bitter and spicy. Each taste has specific function so are given accordingly. Sweet is used for toning, improving, moistening the basic systems of the body, sour is used in perspiration, protracted cough, and chronic diarrhea. Salty is effective in softening firm masses and adhesions. Bitter helps in clearing body heat, decreases chi, raises appetite while spicy is used to activate meridian points, circulation of blood and disperses energy.
Meridian: meridians are the pathways associated with the body organs. There are specific herbs associated with each organ which is decided considering above two methods.
Herbal remedies are the secret to cure a number of diseases. This is due to the therapeutic effect of each herb on the specific organ in the body. Some of the herbs used in preparing these medicines are:
Ginger: it's an herb as well as spice used regularly in daily diet. This generates warmth in body, effective in cough and cold, detoxifies the food poisons and helpful in digestion.
Cinnamon: a popular ingredient of tea helps in maintaining the balance of energy throughout the body. It regulates the circulation of blood by invigorating it and helps during allergic reaction in the body.
Astragalus: its root is used to strengthen immune system and make body resistant to infection. It also reduces reaction during allergies.
Salvia: used in parts of pain, injury, inflammation, infection, swelling and effective in post stroke syndrome.
Ephedra: it is a stem herb effective in respiratory and nervous system. It's a tonic for those who are trying hard to reduce weight as it helps in burning calories.
Several others include peony, rehmmania, rhubarb, licorice etc. Sometimes these medicines also include minerals and plant parts that have raised certain controversies in their use. Otherwise these are the best remedies for your diseases and very cost effective too.

3 Ways Aspirin Can Kill You - Just Because It's Over-the-Counter Doesn't Make it Safe

Did you know aspirin can kill you?
Despite frequent reminders, many patients are still of the opinion that Tylenol, aspirin, and ibuprofen are all about the same. It makes me cringe every time I hear it. Were you aware that if aspirin were presented to the FDA today it would not be approved for over-the-counter sale? It's much too dangerous! It might not even be condoned as an anti-inflammatory medication, although its properties as a blood thinner would probably warrant approval as such (i.e., to prevent heart attacks.)
So how can aspirin kill you? Here are the top 3 ways, which are seen regularly in every emergency room.
1. Stomach bleeding. Aspirin is acetylsalicylic acid. Even though the stomach makes hydrochloric acid on its own, it is not necessarily able to tolerate the introduction of additional acid. Imagine pouring acid on your hand all day. Sooner or later you'd burn a hole through your skin. The same can happen in the stomach, creating an ulcer. Sometimes rather than create an ulcer, the entire lining of the stomach becomes irritated (gastritis). The tiny blood vessels just beneath the surface can be eroded and then bleed. The use of aspirin is one of the most common causes of stomach and other gastrointestinal bleeding. You may not think you could bleed to death from this, but it happens every day. Fortunately, emergency care and blood transfusions have prevented most deaths due to stomach erosion by aspirin.
2. Aspirin allergy. Although nearly everyone understands that a person can be allergic to penicillin, because aspirin is available without prescription, it is perceived as safe. However, many people are allergic to aspirin. A mild case may cause itching and perhaps hives. A moderate case may also cause angioedema, or swelling of the face, hands, and other areas of the body. A severe case can cause swelling in the bronchial tubes and subsequent airway obstruction. This can be a medical emergency that, untreated, leads to suffocation and death.
3. Acidosis. When an overdose of acetylsalicylic acid is ingested, it may poison cellular metabolism, leading to high blood acid levels (metabolic acidosis). Eventually this may result in multiple organ failure and collapse. If the drug is not removed via dialysis, a person can easily die of an accidental or intentional aspirin overdose.
Clearly, taking excess aspirin is like playing with fire. Because a little may not hurt you does not mean taking more is safe. Consult your doctor if you require aspirin on a regular basis. There are many safer alternatives.
